Re: ADSL 2+ LLU Connection Problems !

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

Hi guys, bit of an update for you.

Thankfully the line has been a little more stable over the past 48Hrs with loss of connection twice. My ISP should be running a line test at some point to rule out anything exchange side, they haven't been much help yet but I've only posted on the forum so far. They suggested upping the SNR.

I have now got round to trying a different router, that been a BT Homehub flashed to the Speedtouch 7G Firmware. It's apprently running on the Broadcom chipset and is tweakable with DMT v7 although a bit different from DMT v8. So far, so good the connection although I won't really get any indication of stability until it's been up for 48+Hrs. The attenuation is reported higher 20.0dB Down/12.0dB Up, does that really matter ?.

I've also got a DG843GT/Sky Router on the way from ebay (£11) to test out, it's a shame it's not Microsoft Certified. I need a router that is capable of allowing multiple Xbox 360's online at the same time with open NAT, not many routers do which is a shame.

So I'll see how everything goes from here, hopefully the change of router will work. If it doesn't I guess I'll have to put up with things how they are apart from having a new line installed !. Thinking of that, can anyone reccommend TalkTalk ?. They offer full second line installations at £59, line rental and 24Mb BB from them would work out 1p cheaper then what I'm paying now ! I guess I'll think of that when I'm desperate though, Lol !.

One other thing, I'm definetly on Interleave then ? I've never asked for it so it must of been active since day one. Would that explain the lower Upload Speed (Had 1+Mb on 21CN before) ?. I guess it would'nt be advisable to ask for it to be turned off considering my current problems ? Improved Latency would be good, that's all.

Another update !

Had the Speedtouch 7G connected for 36+Hours now without the problems we've had with the D-Link. Until early this morning we hadn't had any disconnections, I wasn't using the connection at the time so I don't know how long the internet was off for but 50+Mins after the reset I was online and everything seemed fine. The SNR was normal and I didn't have to manualy resync.

Speedtouch 7G stats.

Errored second stats are kept from day one of connecting so are over a period of 36+Hours.

Link Information

Uptime: 0 days, 0:23:13

Modulation: G.992.5 Annex A

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.023 / 21.443

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 3,34 / 25,98

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 21,0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 8,5 / 20,0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,5 / 5,0

Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / P

Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 1 / 0

Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0

Loss of Link (Remote): 0

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 93 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 4.053

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 14.327 / 2

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 71.813 / 1

I'm guessing the "Loss Of Signal (Remote)" caused the disconnect ?. What is classed as local, local interference etc ?

So, so far so good. If it does start dropping more frequently I guess I'll have to explore other avenues. Any recommendations for TalkTalk yet ?. Lol
