Unstable adsl2+ with o2

[link to this post]

Hi I have an attenuation of 40 so according to dsl uk I should be getting 8 - 10MBS. I'm syncing at 8MB which is ok. However the connection keeps disconnecting and it tends to be late at night 3AM. My dad is into the forign stock exchange so he browses the net at this itime. He's constantly resetting the router. I was a Netgear DGN2000 and on the router stats page it says i sync at whatever speed so doesn't it mean I haven't lost my sync to the exchange?

I have been told by O2 that i have a noisy line and they have had to increased the noise profile. Is there any tests I can do to find out whats the cause?
It's directly connected to a NTe5 adsl filtered face plate on the master socket. Disconnecting the extension wiring isn't really an option really.

I've also had a problem with one of our phones sometimes I loose audio then it comes back again. I do also have a telphone extension lead with the plug cut off then hard wired into the socket. Don't ask me why it wasn't me who did it.

Check out the O2 forum there's an ongoing problem with Netgear routers.

It would be useful if you could post your router stats when plugged in normally and also when plugged in to the test socket within the master socket.

See http://www.dslzoneuk.net/adsl_line_stats.php

Where is this phone extension hard wired? Not into the test socket?
