does it drop if you have no phones connected and call the number ?

Just tried that Yarwell. Thanks for the suggestion.

Unfortunately it still drops the connection so I think that rules out the phones & anything my side.

yes, I think points to a line fault or a filtering issue at the exchange end

Unfortunately I don't have any model numbers just a collection of reports that a Panasonic DECT phone was causing a problem. Presumably causing RF interference or something, my suspicion is that bad power supplies or something were injecting noise into the line.

That's interesting as one review on Argos said her power adapter was buzzing and she took it back for replacement. Maybe I was lucky and got a good set.
