CPU Usage Going Crazy..

[link to this post]

Dont know what has gone on with my pc today as i noticed the fans kicking in and the CPU usage is running at 70% with just a few webpages open.

I am not downloading anything or running any programs and i do not understand why this is doing this.

Anyone have any suggestions..........?

have you done the ALT,CTL&DELETE and checked using windows task manager which process's are using the cpu the most, maybe a beastie or could just be some safe s/w goin nuts, hard to say from here, (such as you anti virus) as some are notorious for needlessly hogging the cpu ect

Yeah i have done that and its IE that is using up all the CPU usage, been doing a few Google searches and there seems to be many a forum thread regarding this issue not that i have found any fix.

One person did suggest making a new account on the pc which i do not want to do because you lose most the stuff you got on here.

Seems to go crazy when i open up my homepage which is news regarding gaming.

http://n4g.com/

It goes from like 2% usage then shoots up to 80% as soon as i open the above page and i can here the speed of the fans kicking in.................Weird or what ?

appears to be the nokia advert on the right. though the scrap one at the top is heavy too. (both flash... )
(moving the windows about so each ad in turn is not visable and watch performance in task manager)
the bbc news ticker used to do it on my win7 machine.

refreshed the page a few times not seeing the nokia add but can see other adds at the top and midway down right of page, tried what you described and maybe a small fluctuation briefly , but nothing alarming here,? there is a download manager that is free its a add-on for ie7 and 8 it has a add blocker and flash blocker also, called ie
pro link,:IE Pro web download

Not directly helpful as I use Opera on a Mac, but I've seen the same thing on a Flash-based game.

If I leave the tab open, occasionally both cores will go up to 80% or more. Closing and re-opening the tab cures it for me.

I have had this with ads in Yahoo Messenger which are poorly written flash ads, something to be said for flash/ad blockers.
