Optimal Settings Windows 7

[link to this post]

I am based in the UK and I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.

I have a WN111V2 USB Adapter linking to a WNR2000V1 Router.

My Cable broadband service states I can obtain 50MBPS.

Can anyone please give me the optimal settings in order to obtain this speed and how to set them up.

Cheers,

Are you all set up and running and just need to tune? What speeds are you currently achieving and do they differ from the speeds you get when using a wired PC <-> router connection?

I just need to tune the default settings in order to obtain optimal speeds. Unfortunately I cannot move the PC near the router in order wired access. I only have a laptop with XP connected to the router.

Which speed Check would you recommend use?

Try http://speedtest.net/

The thinkbroadband doesn't work properly with Virgin cable at the moment (there was a post recently saying that Virgin were trying to find a workaround).

Personally I'd pretty much ignore speed test sites and just download large files and do a manual timing.

Can't help with the tuning as I've never used Windows 7.
