135k Profile...

[link to this post]

Hi guys
Im kinda new to these forums, and to the whole broadband speed issues etc, well to get onto my problem recently in the last 4-5 days my phone line was cut off, therefore my Internet was off also, ringing BT i they quickly got a line test going and found that there was a problem with there exchange, within 1 day my phone line was working again, much to my surprise that they had dealt with it in such a short period of time....

Once i had my phone line all working and could actually make outgoing calls, and receive incoming calls, i decided to check my broadband low and behold my IP profile has been put down to 135k.... normally my speed averages from 1.5mb - 2mb not particularly the best but its alright for my area, ive raised this issue with BT and they have organised an engineer to come round on Friday, which im dreading as i doubt they will turn up....

my speed is so slow i cant even download the Routerstats as i have seen many members use and would like to try it to see if i can find the problem out well, doing a test on thinkbroadband the results are as follows

Download Speed.:. 0.13mb/s
Ping.:. 105
Upload Speed.:. 0.37mb/s
Latency.:. 105ms
Server.:. Kingston Upon Hull
Distance.:. - 50 ml

any feedback is greatly helpful but ever since the problem at the exchange my broadband aint been the same

How long ago was the phone fixed? It can take 3 days or so for the profile to restore after an event that caused it to drop, which the fault probably did.

What speed does your router say you are connected at now?
Can you go here and post the results?

phone was fixed like 1-2 days ago here are the results

Download speedachieved during the test was - 86 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 50-250 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :2112 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 135 Kbps

It usually takes 72 hours for the profile to increase from when a stable connection has been restored.

As long as you maintain the connection at that speed, I would expect to profile to increase by itself after another day so.

If you stay syncing at the rates you used to get there is nothing your BT/ISP need to do but wait. Your profile should increase automatically within 5 days. Search for Data Rate in http://www.dslzoneuk.net/adslmax_explained.php
