High Attenuation - very close to exchange

I have recently moved to o2 broadband premium (up to 20meg). I have checked my connection details and noticed that my line attenuation seems very high given that I am only 450 metres away from my exchange (details below):

I've tried testing using the test socket on the BT master socket but this only reduces the Attenuation by around 0.5 (to 55.5).

Whilst I understand that line length is not the sole factor to consider and that the 450m is likely to be longer I can't believe that the actual length is anything like 4.1km (which is what is estimated using: http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php)

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated

Are you in a new build? Or modernish house? If so, the line probably goes around the block 10 times like mine seems to do.

I'd pop next door and ask to check their attenuation if you know them.

If it's the same there is nothing you can do i'm afraid.

No, it looks correct. Are you sure you're connected to the exchange you think you are? Is there any obstruction between you and the exchange which would divert the cable, like a river or railway?

Yes - i've confirmed the exchange.
There is no blockage of any sort between myself and the exchange (just two roads)

I guess lines are routed along main roads, with a diversion now and again to take in side roads and so on. But I don't think anyone really knows and it's certainly not as the crow flies.

Show us on a map, the exchange and your road. If it is as you say.....

I got a line down from 55db attenuation - 5meg sync on a 2+ connection, down to 13db attenuation and 22 meg sync ........

Looks close, get your ISP to investigate, it's one of the things you pay them for.
