MHC,

Yes you are correct, apologies for the misinformation, but that's how my cousin got his wiring sorted and he certainly didn't touch the internal BT junction box only the wires at the back of the old master onto which he could not fit a filtered faceplate nor run a phone extension satisfactorily.

Right - all done!

Wired everything as suggested by MrSaffron + MHC, and everything (bband+telephone) seems to work perfectly, much obliged. smile

sounds to me you have backwired an extension. thats a no no to be honest

Err.. thanks, but that's not esp. helpful if you don't present me with any other (wiring) options! Do I have any, given that the actual outside BT line doesn't ever enter my flat directly?

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, just curious.
