Re: Line or router faulty?

[re: wolvesmad] [link to this post]

It may or may not be related to a very similiar problem I'm suddenly having... for months been syncing perfectly happily with an upstream speed of ~1100Kbit w/ 12db SNR upstream and maybe 2-3 errors in 24 hours... last few days its struggling to get above 900Kbit and the SNR is anywhere from 0 to 6db with tons of errors resulting in the line dropping out every 2-5 minutes frown Upstream Bit error rate and HEC hits into the 1000s within 5 minutes - tried changing routers and microfilters with no change. I'm connected to the Yeovil exchange (Somerset). I'm about to get onto BT about it.

bah... so I contacted BT with regard to upstream connection issues and what do they do? they put the downstream on a (lower) banded profile............. with no affect on the upstream.

When I have had upstram problems in the past they have been caused by a fault that created audible noise on the line.

Anything wrong that you could book as a voice fault?

Funny you should say that, no audible noise issues on the line but noticed today that every time someone recieved or finished a call the router loses sync and while they are on the phone the error rate climbs through the roof (Bit Errors: D: 0 /U: 22147, HEC: D: 1 /U: 556) just from a 4 minute call.

As I said I've tried changing microfilters, etc. so fairly certain its a line/exchange fault frown

EDIT: Oh <insert explicit here> just noticed today the upstream is in fastpath mode (usually interleave depth 4) so I'm guessing thats why its sensitive even to the phone line today - its been in interleave mode the last few days while I had this problem tho (but people using the phone wasn't affecting it).
