Misreports upstream errors - they managed to replicate the issue with no ADSL connection pressent

That looks fine. We see the external drop-wire coming in through the wall and it is directly connected to the NTE5A. You have no extension wiring at all. Am I correct?

There is no need to look inside the back-box (which, of course, is the domain of OR) but if you are really inquisitive and wish to satisfy John's curiosity, just undo the two screws, lift the front part out, take a photograph and carefully put it all back again!
