Interestingly though using telnet it establishes a connection to the host (using windows, but if i use putty it just quits??

Just to remind everyone. I said in an earlier post:

"Everything else is timed out. That's OK, because Reuters block the final hop to TRACERT"

Somebody (possibly the Reuters help desk) said that TRACERT can never actually get inside the Reuters security (I said I wasn' a techie).

So the last hop will always fail with a timeout.

Only XRaySpeX and myself failed to make it past France. Both Orange. (France Telecom is Orange, I think.)

That should probably convince Orange
