Re: Disconnection Problems on TalkTalk ADSL

[re: MHC] [link to this post]

Thanks again MHC.

I turned the whole hot water and heating system off at the fused spur. The boiler hasnt run yet so far today anyway but I turned it off anyway. Got another disconnection at 11:50 after turning the power off.

I can get TalkTalk to investigate again but they are pretty useless. They will book the third engineer out to have a look at this who will test the line again and everything will appear ok....again. lol.

Any other ideas MHC?

You have isolated everything in the house ... you have changed the router ... have you tried it plugged directly into the test socket behind the main face plate?

You have a copy of RouterStats - set that up to run for a few hours with sampling every 5 seconds (if it can achieve it) and get both SNR and Sync plots. Host those on a suitable website so we can have a look.

If you are at the master and it still happens with both routers with all much electrical equipment off, it points to something external.

I always use the test socket. I dont have any extensions so I dont see the need to use the front plate.

I have some logs available already, they were set at 15 seconds but they do show all of the information required I think.

The links to rapidshare are below. One log is for the linksys router and the other the netgear.

The Linksys stats are useless as they don't show the noise margin.
The Netgear stats show a regular event at around half-past the hour which affects your noise margin and causes a resync.
Find what's causing that and that's your problem

If only he would post links to the plots/graphs. Any recurring problem becomes a lot easier to see.
