Re: Strange SNR Issue

Dear All,

Sorry for late reply - I have been on business and holiday.
In reply to a post by wanapoo:
It's the Draytek, A friend had the exact same problem when he switched to 21cn, He complained to the isp resulting in an engineer visit which found no fault which he had to pay for. I plugged in an old spare Thompson router and his connection was rock solid. We then updated all the firmware in his Draytek to the latest versions, but it still cut out. Eventually he bought a cheap Netgear from Argos and hasn't had any problems since.

This is a bit worrying.

However, does this also add up wth the fact that my SNR raisies when I am on the telephone phone? Or will SNR always raise when on a phone anyway and not 100% indicative of an issue like High Open?

Re: Strange SNR Issue

Hi All,

Just an update to all who was following this thread.

The BT Engineer has called and found a fault at the telegraph pole and one because the house alarm was causing interference. The fixing of the telegraph pole saw the SNR raise from 2db to 9db. The removal of the house alarm connection saw it rise from 9db to 14db.

The BT Engineer has confirmed that there is only 270m of cable between the property and the Exchange. Nice and short so should be able to receive a decent speed.

The problem now is that since the SNR is fixed, the line is syncing at only 9Mb out of 21Mb. (High SNR / Lower Speed). I think this is because the ISP set me to a super-stable line profile so have asked them to reverse this and then start training again.

So, nearly there. Just need the ISP to play ball with my request and this may see a return to speed and stability.

I hope!!!

Brad
