New Line - Slow speed

Just got home broadband from BT. They said I would get 6 to 8 Meg but so far its only 1 or 2. This is the info from router.

Is this likely to change during the "running in" period and based on the figures what should I get?

You are on the older 20CN service, where the IP profile can take up to five days to improve. Assuming you are holding something above 5 Meg all the time, even with the odd disconnect it should be a lot higher than that.

Modem has been connected 26 hours, so I'd suggest give it a little off/count to ten/on cycle. This might just wake up the profiling system.

Otherwise just check the IP profile each day, and while you might be able to report a stuck profile in the first ten days, most providers will not listen until the tenth day.

That is the 8 Meg they promised.

What's holding you up is:

IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

You need to wait until that raises to at least 6.5 Meg.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like a waiting game but I am relieved that I should get there..........sometime.
Have been using 3's mobile broadband for a couple of years now and am getting 3 to 4 meg on it so was disappointed that a landline bb was slower!
