Talk-Talk Broadband Issues - request advice

Hi, I'd hope someone can help me with a bit of advice. Since I have moved house, taking my talk talk with me, we have had a very poor service. I want to switch providers but I really need to get to the nub of the problem with our service. I've done all the stuff on the ISP site, had 2 engineer visits and numerous 'line' tweaks with SNR etc. In sum, I can see the line is not stable - in video streaming and in online gaming the line just 'stops' for up to several seconds. I can see it on the broadband tester here and now have a good history. It seems to me in trying to solve the unsynching of the connection, talk talk slowed it right down (<0.5mb). I find my mobile dongle is at least many times faster and totally stable. Question is do I accept the BT OR engineer and persevere with talk talk or switch? Here are some of the recent tests:

We'll need to see some stats before being able to advise. Do you have a master telephone socket with a removable lower half (NTE5)?

This is what the router is saying:

DLINK 2780

Downstream: 5937 kpbs, SNR 10.8, Atten 38.0, output pwr 0
Upstream: 853 kpbs, SNR 15.3, Atten 20.0, output pwr 12

No HEC errors.

But the test I just did gave this result:

The last engineer put the best socket on, it is the master socket and yes I can remove the bottom part. I had the same problems with my netgear router and we've unplugged everything (i.e. sky). Not sure if it's poor wiring in the house or a poor set up from talk talk (line tests are fine)?

To eliminate that take router stats and speedtest from hidden test socket behind the removable faceplate.

You should be getting about 10 Meg sync speed @ 6dB NM.

so you have a reasonable sync but a poor speed test result.

Did you test with wired ethernet or wireless ? Do you use Windows XP ? If wireless is anyone / anything else using the connection at the same time ? Is it the same at 7am ?

Thanks for the advice. I've tried it without the faceplate and the line is much better. The stats are:
Downstream 5204 kpbs, snr 12.7, attn. 38.0, output 0
Upstream 792 kpbs, snr 15.4, attn. 20.2, output 12 dBm.

For the other questions, nothing else using internet (only phone plugged in, no extensions), Windows 7 and 8, yes been checking both cable and wireless. Here is the link to the last test. Going to try plugging the faceplate back in to see if that causes it to drop. To be honest, the most frustrating thing is the lag spikes I get on my online gaming, not evident on the mobile BB. Oh well, report back in a moment.

Hmmmm. Just tested with the faceplate back on and getting the same performance (ie much better than yesterday).

So:

1. Eliminated router.
2. Eliminated faceplate.
3. Eliminated wireless.

I have had the odd purple patch of (relatively) normal stable performance. I'll go online to the MMO and see how the lag behaves.
