Stream/Download ceases, browsing OK

Hi all,

I'm hoping you can help me. For the past several months we've been unable to stream anything, radio or TV, without pause then failure. Downloads don't work either; they tend to drop off to 0bps after approx 15 seconds and do not restart. It makes no difference if I begin a download and leave it in peace or do other things - it is guaranteed to fail.

I'm with Orange/EE, having been with them since 2009, but never had this problem in our old property pre-October last year. Customer Service just ran the script, right down to turning all 5 problem devices - Wii, 2x smartphone, 2x laptop - off and on again and rebooting the router. They think it's a problem internal to the house. I have a degree in Comp Sci but I'm stumped on this. I have a Brightbox, stats below.

Any thoughts?

They look OK, but for how long had the router been in sync when you took those stats ? If on for a few hours plus all good, if only just retrained, then the errors are a little high.

the router was 20 minutes since reboot.

how would I go about getting the errors down?

That is a fair few CRC errors in twenty minutes, wether this is indicative of the fault, I'm not sure. Since your circuit is on fast path, unless it has been reset very recently, then DLM hasn't deemed the errors enough to worry about.

Does tracert in command prompt show anything odd ?

Tempted to try a different router

The software running in some can have bugs making them crash, but don't recall anything generic on the Brightbox

Always worth a go, often people don't have anything else to connect with. Maybe they might ask a neighbour to borrow theirs briefly ?

I've had this problem for months with Orange. They've replaced the line before, I've had 3 engineers out. I'm going to buy another router to try. Did you have any fix?
