With the 585 v6 it should be fairly straight forward to telnet a change to the modulation type using Windows Command Prompt if the firmware is V6.2.G or later.

Yes can do, also with DMT tool as well, put SNR down to 3 and synced at 6203! Didn't last but still could not get 'Internet' though.. I am not worried will wait till I switch ISP before messing around anymore.

Think I found out what happened, on Mon 22 BT put a new pole up right next to cab, been told that cab was open most of day with two guys doing cabling, that probably caused the noise. Been OK last 6 days. Why a new pole I don't know, cab has only has few lines used out of the 100 in there, and everyone is UG.

Probably connecting somebody who didn't have a UG line & this was the easiest way?
Or somebody required extra lines. Say if they needed 4 lines, the one existing underground cable wouldn't be enough so BT would install another line or two. It's less costly to do it overhead than to dig up the roads. Could also be that the underground line needed replacing and again this seemed the most sensible route.

You only want to be concerned with connection uptime really. If that drops to 00:00:00 then the routers either been rebooted or the sync lost.

On a true resync all my stats reset to zero but I only see fec crc and hec errors.

Spot on saw BTOR BB neighbour, two more poles gone up 5 houses lost phone and or BB coiple of weeks, fault from cab, megabucks to dig up road. Heh ho they've all got new copper after 42yrs, albeit above ground, bet they getter better sync, heehee. Thought it strange as theres actually only 45 lines used out of the 100 in cab.

Router resets all as well, just never seen LOS before, makes a mockery of O2 techs in my post in 'O2' section, re O2 techs saying LOS will go if I change to Sky.

Yeah changing to sky would make no difference whatsoever. If you don't want their line rental you can wait it out and eventually you should migrate to sky line rental free or move on.
Sadly sky support seen to have been given orders to get absolutely everyone from O2 onto a sky package. I feel like there's possibly an incentive for the staff if they transfer you over. If that's the case it explains why sky are often lying to get customers over.

I think it's largely as they want everyone on the new llu equipment. Frustrating though!!
