Two extensions from master socket

Hi,

Please could I ask whether it is possible to wire two telephone extensions from a single master socket, or would the extensions require to be daisy-chained?

Just double up the wires into the 2 & 5 connectors on back of face plate:

In reference to www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/socket.htm:

Pin Colour Use
1 Not used
2 Blue/white "B" Wire
3 Orange/white Ring wire
4 White/orange Used for completeness or as earth in PABX systems.
5 White/Blue "A" wire
6 Not used

Just to add: Normal IDC connectors are only designed to have two wires inserted. Putting a third in can result in strains on the connector and the blades being pushed apart possibly resulting in a bad or failed contact.

1 - fine
2 - fine
3 - no

There is no reason why you cannot daisy chain extension 3 off one of the others though ...

Brill - thank you for the advice and explanation!

Ideally you get an IDC/Krone tool for a quid or so to insert the wires. ADSL Nation, Maplin, B & Q and others. Do not strip the inner insulation off the actual wires - only the outer of the cable.
