Re: My EE brightbox drops conncetivity every 30secs to 3 min

[re: ukhardy07] [link to this post]

I have connected to the downstairs bt master socket and I'm still getting the same problem. Apologies for being dumb but I don't get what a device filter is? Can you elaborate?

EDIT: you posted just before I posted this and I get what you mean now! Yeah I think everything is filtered

A filter looks like this.
http://images.esellerpro.com/2131/I/548/77/DSL413200...

It has to connect to the telephone line before anything else. (See previous post)
Everything connected to the telephone line at any socket needs to have a filter in place.

We need to see the Time Connected at the same time as the full router stats so they can be correlated.

Also we need to see them from the downstairs master socket. Forget your problem for the mo' and concentrate on the diagnostics.

A filter is that little dangly thing you plug into phone sockets and came with the router. You need 1 for every socket you have something plugged into.

Has it dropped in the last 29 minutes?
According to the stats the actual broadband has been up for 29 minutes without a single drop out...

EDIT: is everything wireless?

We don't have a burglar alarm or a printer and my other house phone is linked wirelessly, we also have another router linked to the EE brightbox one which is wireless and therefore we only have 1 filter.

I'll have a go now on a game and see if I get disconnected

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it!

Why do you have a second router connected to the EE brightbox? The EE brightbox is already a wireless router?
This could introduce a whole series of issues especially if the second router is not configured correctly.

But not discons from the BB.

Your error counts are in the high side, e.g. ES = 189, would expect no more than 91.

Look in the router log, Adavanced/ System/ System Log for any 'PPP down/disconnected' and copy that bit here.
