Re: My EE brightbox drops connectivity every 30secs to 3 min

[re: deleted] [link to this post]

The router doesn't show a disconnection... The connection uptime would almost certainly reset to 00:00:00 if the router had dropped the broadband connection. So your internet isn't actually dropping out here.

What is this second router you have? Why do you have it? I feel this may be setup wrong and causing issues...

Most people would just have the brightbox connected and nothing else. The brightbox is already wireless without another router?

What wireless do you connect to? The brightbox wireless or the second router?
Does both the brightbox and the second router give out a wireless signal?

I am trying to understand your setup more as it sounds out of the ordinary right now.

I cannot understand the need for a second router can you explain that to me to kind of move forward? smile

The actual broadband connection is not dropping from the looks of it which points the issue at your equipment inside of the house. I am tipping the second router or something else which I'll get into (but lets deal with the second router for now).

We will get to the bottom of this.

EDIT: As far as the actual broadband connection goes it has been connected without any disconnections for over 1.5hours. The errors are high though but not the worst I've seen...

Not quite! The uptime would keep ticking but the LoS would increase.

However it is possible that while the BB sync stayed up the connection thro' the ISP's network to the Net went down. Hence my request for the router log.

Good point!

I assumed that time connected was the ADSL connection uptime... On the Homehub I use it definitely is as unplugging the broadband from the wall socket resets it. The other routers I've used are mainly Netgear ones where the uptime is the router uptime and the WAN uptime is the ADSL uptime. Always learning smile

As does the BB, but that's not the same as a DLM resync. I've seen the BB with Uptime = days but the LoS increasing within the previous few mins.

And what are your stats & uptime now?

Sounds more like a workaround rather than a fix. Your line is capable of faster on ADSL2+.

Try now putting it back on ADSL2+ or Auto.

That's masking your problem. The issue is still there. ADSL 2 uses different frequencies so may be more stable, however it's likely to be slower than your line should be able to handle. Anyway, I guess as long as it works for you. Saves all the headache I guess.
