Re: Training on a new line?

Yes, spot on, Matt; it wouldn't sync without it. I wrongly assumed it would drop down to the next best supported one.

Interleaving has now kicked in. I'll probably try and fiddle with the SNR slider on the modem in the future to try and squeeze a little more downstream out of it.

In hindsight, it wasn't really worth opting for Annex M on this line. I knew it would impact downstream speed but I didn't expect the gains to be so small.

FTTC us coming in the next couple of months hopefully so I'll stick with it for now! Think they've had issues with where to put the cab.

On FTTC:-
Note : It is the DLM system that sets the line profile, and this should not be interfered with by CPs/users setting rates, SNR margins etc. at the modem.
From Openreach SIN 498.

It doesn't work if you do, anyway. I tried it once I'd unlocked my Openreach modem, before that note was there, and it messed things up. It didn't behave at all like playing on ADSL2+ did.

Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Oh, this is on ADSL2+ Annex M rather than FTTC. I can't get FTTC yet.

Yep. I added the first line when I remembered that. It was worth leaving the post in case he thinks of trying it on FTTC.

I don't think it is anywhere near as common on FTTC even if DLM does cobble you more.

Most are very happy with the natural speed increase.

There were reports that on some of the third-party modem/routers it does work. But the HG612 doesn't like it. Though I haven't got the latest firm/software in it.
