Re: Openreach Useless!

[re: MrSaffron] [link to this post]

Well Plusnet changed my line profile to 3.5mbps at their end but even thought the connection improved to a record breaking 1200kbps its starting to look like it won't get much higher...

Plusnet have decided to send a broadband engineer to have a look though they don't seem too sure that it will get much better and probably won't make 2500kbps never mind the 2800kbps I had with Sky in 2013..

I'm assuming they have done this as it is part of the steps that has to be taken before someone can leave cost free when getting less speed than estimated.

So Engineer will be out on Monday morning and I'm going to arrange with my mum to have a phone conference with the Openreach chap to see what the outcome is!

A long shot - but have you or your mother tried the QLT since the apparent "crossed-lines" have appeared.

I suggest that it is tried again, listening carefully to the initial announcement about the Line Number, to see if it is your mother's; or possibly that of the other line.

That was the first thing I did.

I think their is still a line fault anyway as the line has a louder than usual humming on the line and the crossed line issue may still exist, but the fault has been marked as resolved so we will see.

But I'm sure that a Broadband engineer will confirm this if it is an issue!

Well haven't got the full details yet but an Openreach engineer has been out and vandalised the home network I installed.

My setup was Master NTE with MK3 Interstitial > Un-Filtered Data Extension (RJ11)

Phones are also on a filtered extensions.

He has apparently removed my Data extension and a CAT5e modules from the wall and replaced them with an NTE Master because "The NTE is filtered"

This has now cut off all ethernet ports around house from connecting to internet.

and then he has said he's going to do some work externally (cabinet) to sort fault.

I've been on the phone to plusnet to try get some contact details for this "engineer" and also got nowhere with them, they keep saying "we have to wait for paperwork from engineer"

This guy had no reason to be in my mums house, the master socket is in the porch.

Is this usual, I'm really f*&^%£ off with T@£$% like these breaking my hard and precise work.

UPDATE 11:34

Not long spoke to Broadband Engineer who has been "fiddling" this morning, nearly ended up arguing over his decision to move my master socket from porch to living room at the back of my mums house

(ruining the nice black chrome socket matching I had going and causing slight damage to paintwork)

Nearly ended up in a row, specially when I explained that I do home networking solutions, he then said he would return to the property "at my request" to reinstall the RJ11 module but he would not reconnect the RJ45 (no surprise there, I suppose they can't cope with 4 pairs overs 1 laugh)

I decided not to give that idiot permission to enter my mums property again and that I might fix it at a later date.

Once tones of voice had calmed, we started talking about the issue at hand and he said he has requested a pair change from the local cabinet back to exchange..

So fault was not at my house then! or with my setup! laugh

He said that procedure is to replace parts at customers house and then test externally, I advised that it should be the opposite way round.

So now, when am I next in Birmingham!

Well just a shame its took 5 visits from Openreach to get the line pair from the exchange changed, even after I asked an engineer to do it.

Now hopefully my mum won't need Openreach out again, not after the shambles service we've dealt with and still need to go fix the home network,

Lucky smart TV has Wi-Fi and was only thing on Ethernet network.
