New Netgear modem headache

Hi all,

I bought a new modem to replace my aged Openreach one so I opted for a Netgear DM200.

I can't get the thing to connect whatsoever. It syncs up beautifully with the DSLAM, but will not connect to service provider at all.

I've tried auto configuration and typing it all in myself. Am I missing something? I'm aware of VLAN 101.

Since you mention Vlan 101 I suppose you are using FTTC. This link shows the setting you need for a Zyxel router which may be helpful. Which ISP are your trying to use?

I've managed to resolve this problem, through luck than judgement.

For future reference, in Netgear's drop down list for Auto-Configuration you have a list of ISP's. My ISP, IDNet, Isn't listed so naturally I clicked on "Other"

I tried setting it to BT instead and worked like a charm, after inputting IDNet DSL login credentials.

What are your settings for this Modem?

Are you using it in modem/router or modem only mode?

I also bought one of these modems and for the last two days I have been trying to get it to work. Just cannot get it to speak to the router when I connect it to the WAN Port on the ASUS RT-N66U.
It works fine in Modem/Router Mode connected straight into the PC LAN Port. But the minute I change it to Modem Only Mode and connect it up to the ASUS, it all becomes an " Unidentified Network " and will not speak to one another.

Use the old HG612 and all works as it should.

Hi Pete, not sure if you're still having difficulties and sorry I've not picked this up sooner, but I fixed the problem by selecting "BT" in the supplier list on the configuration page, there's a strange glitch with the firmware which is preventing manual configuration as "Other" or anything else.
