Broadband/internet disconnecting

[link to this post]

Our broadband has been disconnecting for months now every time the phone rings and randomly at other times. we got a new face plate with filter, also plugged in router direct to test socket with new filter and no telephone or any other appliances on in the house yet when i ring my line adsl link goes down, openreach changed line card dslam (cease and re provide) still adsl disconnects, openreach even apparently checked by disconnecting the physical line at exchange and adsl still goes down when phone rings (simulated at exchange end) checked the line for high resistance and loads of other things were tested and don. Now they want to "Openreach have suggested a change in the tie pairs on your connection may fix your issue" and they say it it can take 24-72 for us to have no service at this time, so my question is, does any body know if a simple job like this should take this long and surely they could connect me temporally (the line)to some spare equipment? also surely this would not be the case as other people in the area have the same problem and use different providers? our lines are direct exchange lines about 8km in lengths.
any ideas welcome.

The line length suggests that it may be the case that it is going to be a slow process finding out exactly which bit of the cable run is the problem.

In theory some kit can detect the rough distance to faults like this if it is a High Resistance fault, but if there are multiple issues this will complicate things.

So to me suspects it is more likely the line won't be down solidly for the length of time, but may be on/off/on/off as things are tried out. Unless of course they have identified a section of cable affecting many lines, in which case you may go offline for sometime if for example the only way to get the new cable in place is to remove the old cable, rather than the usual install the new one alongside and move people across one by one.

If there are spare copper pairs they would probably have already tried them, but spares do run out at some point.

One of those with 'on the muddy ground' experience will hopefully turn up later.

No need to leave the end user disconnected for any length of time. I suspect the timeframe is how long to get someone scheduled to do it and only assumes the OP has no service currently

When you say left without service do you mean broadband ?

If so, then to provide a temporary service to keep you on line would involve pretty much the same as the cease and reprovide, or the lift and shift. ( the second one is the shortest option)

Just recalled your previous thread ... have they now swapped the LIC out ?

Yes they swapped the LIC out ,that was one of the last engineers who did this.
The lift and shift and cease and reprovide where don all in one day so i do not under stand why openreach are trying to say change in the tie pairs on your connection would leave you without service for 24 - 72 hours, so open ended.surely that would have been done before, in the lift and shift etc?
thanks
