Is this old CW1308 cable?

[link to this post]

The incoming line I have is 4 cores which are blue, brown, green and orange. From stripping it back it doesn't look particularly twisted either. Should I be asking for the cable to be upgraded? Would it make a difference? Many thanks.

BT Infinity 2 - Predicted speed 54.7Mbps down/15.7Mbps up. Actual speed 42Mbps down/4.5Mbps up...crazy Left BT as they were poor...
Now with Sky Fibre - 37.5Mbps down, 9.5Mbps up

Most BT cable doesnt have an especially high twist on the pairs.

What problem are you looking to solve ? If its just an increase in sync rate, then highly unlikely that replacing a couple of metres of internal two pair with cat5 is going to make much difference.

Hi Zarjaz - thanks for your reply. Having swapped filters and other cables over the last few weeks I have seen my noise margin go up over 2db (now at 9.6db) and my attenuation drop slightly (now at 19.3db) so I was wondering if changing the cable would further benefit my stats with a view to getting the maximum speed my line would support when I upgrade to a faster fibre package. Thanks.

P.S. I originally had the blue core connected to slot A in the master socket and the orange core to slot B. Swapping them over raised my snr a touch. Does it matter which way round they are connected?

That's the thing, if you are not achieving a max sync rate for the product, and that the service is not capped in some way, every retrain will provide a marginally different set of stats ..... dropping sync too frequently may have the undesired side affect of remote monitoring perceiving it as a fault and your service being capped.

Nope.

They won't replace it. It's simply the older colours. It wouldn't improve your sync either.

May not even be that old John, internal two pair has had those colours for going on ten years Id guess.
