Ended up with netgear r8000, but still chronic 2.4 issues.
Try channel 6, 20 MHz channel width.
On the 5ghz bands, for 5g-1 use channel 44/auto width and for 5g-2 use channel 120/auto width. FYI Ch 120 is a high powered (~1000mW) 5ghz DFS channel (perfectly legal in blighty) but the downside is that your router will kick you off this channel automatically if it detects radar channel conflict so probably not a good idea to use this if you live near an airport/airfield.
Also can you try switching off auto band steering on the R8000? Normally in default mode tri-band routers use a single SSID with the router automatically allocating wifi traffic to each of the 3 bands, however the router algorithms used for this aren't perfect so often you find an uneven spread of traffic, ie a lopsided situation. Far better to switch off auto band steering in the router wifi settings and manually choose which of the 3 bands you want the wifi clients directed to. Choose a unique SSID for each band.
