I'm getting around 51/8.5 which is pretty much at the bottom end of estimations (but just above the failure level) and in a day or so the line is stable. It's reported as fairly long by the modem at 570-580m. The BT wholesale checker gave a range around 50-80 down and 12-19 up.
Only a few months ago I had 1 Gbps cable (55 up) . Prior to that 150-250 Mbps 4G (30-50 up) .... so this is a fair bit slower
Currently I have the modem (Fritzbox) connected to one of the phone jacks via an ADSL filter (there should be no filtering, more a case of having the right connector). I have no landline phones, though there is an alarm system. I don't know if it's connected to the phone line
I've posted a photo of the socket I'm using at https://ibb.co/LxcXYYD - on the left of course is the CAT 5/6 wiring (we have points in each room), and on the right the phone jack. This is where the previous owner told me the the 'master' socket was, but doesn't look like it to me?
I found only one other phone jack in the property which is very similar EXCEPT it was 2 phone cables wired entirely in parallel. It too looks identical with the same capacitor.I am assuming that might be the first point of entry which then loops up to this one. The wiring and capacitor seems the same (I forgot to take a photo and it's behind some furniture).
This doesn't look entirely legit - I'm surprised to see a capacitor on both, and no resistor/surge protector? Unless there's another socket I can't find of course. (I could email the developer to ask)
Do you think it would have any noticeable impact on VDSL2?
Any recommendations on any mods to reduce interference?
