You should, after the regrade, sync at 50.2 or thereabouts with 6dB so on speedtests maybe 47 ... Then if all looks OK, the SNR target will drop to 5, 4, 3 and speeds increase. So potentially 55 ish? Upstream will not change

From the 14 attainable? TBH I'm not so fussed about the download, I'd happily chop some off that and add it to the upload!

But why won't the upload change? If the SNR drops for the down and that allows a bit more speed, isn't the same true in the other direction?

It will stay at 14 ...

The SNR only drops from 6 to 3 on downstream. Upstream will always be based around 6 at sync but at specific times could rise or fall slightly.
