My original dropwire ran 60m from pole to carrier pole - all through trees and then another 50m from carrier pole to house with 50% through trees. It was never worn through from the branches and only damaged when, several times, overheight vehicles went past - at least two were witnessed.
The current fibre drop has been in three years - pole to carrier still through trees and now has a lamp post resting on it putting it under strain. From carrier to house most trees removed and a re-route.
I would suggest that the damage to yours was not casued by branches in sucha short time but cause by those doing the original install.
