Re: Madasa usagefish Broadband

Thanks for that. They do indeed count both so I include both in my total. Becoming irrelevant now anyway cos the speed that for several years was well over 2mb and sometimes approaching 3mb (That's download speed not sync) is still capped at 1750 in the exchange and the router shows continuous online for over 5 days. The speed drops to the low hundreds around 6.30pm till maybe 10 pm with the upload in double figures occasionally. As I say this all this happened almost immediately I renewed my contract. I'm not a great believer in coincidences. Since there's been no suggestion of a solution and no response from the support team for days, it's time to move on. Nice that everyone's been so helpful here. Thanks.

You could use this tool to check for any exchange issues.

Hi Meibion,

Would you mind PMing me your MAAF username so I can take a look at your account? I'll see if I can shed any light onto what's happening for you. I could understand if your mind is made up but would be grateful for a chance to investigate what's gone wrong smile

You may find this comparison useful when deciding where to move to.

Yep thats a really useful comparison between a massive ISP and 5 diddy ones...and even then 2 of them are just BT anyway.

BT Infinity 8th July 2010
Connected to: P23 Kilmaine Road, Bangor, BT19 6DT (NIBA)
600m (approx) to cabinet

Previously:
BT Broadband, roughly 4mbit sync
4KM line / 54dB atten / 9dB SNR / Netgear DG834GT

In the context of the thread, your point is what, exactly?

I am well aware of the ownerships involved, which are crucial to the thread in general and my post containing the link in particular. The selection is deliberate, and appropriate to the OP's problem and their own suggested solution. It precisely demonstrates the reason for the OP's difficulties with Madasafish and the effect of the underlying ownership.

Your suggested solution, with reasons other than "big is best", seems to have been accidentally omitted. I'm sure it would be useful.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

I have a web site hosted by Freenetname but can no longer update it using ftp. It seems that Plusnet who have taken over Madasafish and hence Freenetname have interfered with this service. Any help would be appreciated

This thread is over 5 years old, anyway if you contact them and don't get any help from Plusnet then it's time to move on to another website hosting service.

Thanks 'Apprentice'. I have phoned technical support who have sent an email to their experts. I can log into my account but the Freenetname login doesn't work to allow me to raise a support ticket. You'd think Plusnet could easily solve my problem if they wanted to. I think you're right and after so many trouble free years I'm going to have to move to another web ste host.
