Sorry to be asking a possibly ridiculous question as I don't know you ... but have you gone and opened your network? I only ask as my Uncle hooked up a router to his box as the PC World guy told him it would give better range to reach his laptop in the garden -- but it left his broadband connection unlocked ... suddenly, two of his neighbours were able to use their smartphones whilst sat outside ... smile One of them eventually confessed.

I do not mind you asking a question like that friend,it may sound daft but it can and does happen although I am very security conses so I have my wi-fi switch off as I am using Ethernet cable to router from PC.
Although thank you for your time in reading the post and offering your support.

I will double check though although I am certain I switch it off plus I have it set on
WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)
I do not allow my SSID to be shown also I have isolated the wireless point.

.....Although to day I had a little pc symbol come up in my tool-bar (Internet Connection)
it states......... Speed 9.1Mbps
Status : Connected

Next to that one is another pc symbol which say`s......(Local area connection)
Speed :100.0Mbps
Status : Connected.......

This sounds like you're connected via ethernet to your own network and wirelessly to someone elses network.
I wonder if your OS is for some reason prioritising a "rogue" wireless connection?

You sure it did not say "Internet Gateway"?

If so, see: http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/dslrouter/t/3949723...

Have you tried disconnecting every telephone device in the house and changing your ADSL filters yet?

Welcome to the forums smile.

The forum software is a bit more sophisticated than most, in that it shows in the headers which post you are replying to. That can be very useful. It also enables Threaded mode, which a lot of people here use, so that a main Subject can divide into identifiable sub-threads rather than be all jumbled into a single stream.

(If you click the Threaded button you will see what I mean).

You have replied to XRaySpeX just because his was the latest post. That doesn't matter much in this thread, but in a more complex one it could be very confusing.

Every post has a Reply button. If you click that rather than the last one in the thread, then everything links together perfectly smile. So for instance, in the header of a post you see a couple of links. The first takes you to the post replied to, the second takes you to the profile of that poster.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but brilliant once you get the hang smile.

Hello again

Well it as been several months since I started having trouble with my SKY connection.
I was losing a 5-6 mbps drop over time,Please read thread if interested?.
I phoned SKY but got no joy in solving the issue.
I am now with BT and my speed is much better.

BT Results

Compaired to....

SKY Results

I have been seeing a lot of people asking if SKY broadband is any good on here, also reading a lot of issues like my own.
I sympathise with these people and hope you can resolve your problems.
To people thinking of switching to SKY I would say DO NOT,yeah it may be cheap but ask yourself this question why is it so cheap.....
Because the ISP is poor that's why.........

Final note : A big thank you to everyone who gave me the time in reading my dilemma and giving their input and support...

What BT package are you on?

Please post your line stats reported by your router.

I am on the option 3 package with FTTC.

I would get a lot faster although my line will not hold the infinity speeds so I am on the 20meg down and 2meg up.

I can not post my Router input as it is the new home hub with the open reach connected to that.
When I go into the hub it just tells me I am connected.
