Where has anyone in the discussion split an infinitive?

As to split infinitives being incorrect, that is a very moot point. IIRC the convention of not doing so was something introduced in Victorian times and has been the subject of huge discussion in many places. Inappropriate to repeat it here I suggest.

So sorry I got it wrong......

Infinitive splitting IS incorrect whether introduced by the Victorians or not.

The beginning of Star Trek being the obvious one.

Never mind, it happens to the best. Don't think "spell-check" is hyphenated.
