Unfortunately, in your rush to get the insult in, you didn't read the entire thread before you posted. It's not RFI we're talking about, it's a voice fault.

As a matter of fact, I spent about 15 minutes reading through this thread before I came to read your nonsense comment.

The meaning of most of this thread was because the OP was wondering/complaining about poor throughput on his 9 meg sync with Sky LLU.

The fact that he may have had a little noise on the line is not at all associated with the throughput he was getting (Remember he used to get the proper throughput).

If the noise was effecting the line, the Noise Margin would shoot down reducing the sync speed. The OPs Noise Margin on the First Post was 6.9dB (for the target of 7dB).

So as I said in my previous post, it was a stupid thing to type and is usually considered 'Trolling'.

Although to day I had a little PC symbol come up in my tool-bar (Internet Connection)
You sure it did not say "Internet Gateway"?

If so, see: http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/dslrouter/t/3949723...

Sorry for over looking your question friend,if truth be know I would have probably not seen it as daft as that sounds.
I am now aware of what the CP symbol is, the BT engineer told me it is just a symbol to let you know what your computer can receive?.
I am still none the wiser, although it was not gateway.
Again sorry for leaving you hanging on a reply.

I really did not want this to become a troll site or flaming war.
All I tried to do was explain the issues I was having to see if the community could advise,to be fair the biggest majority were helpful and pleasant.
Although there input did not resolve my problem I was grateful for your time and support.
To the small majority that have turned this whole issue into a nasty debate....please find some other place to waste your time and words.

What is annoying me is I never did find out what the issue was with my connection with SKY?
Some believe it to be line conjugation?
Others believe it to be a fault on my side.
Many think like me "SKY is a below average ISP.
To be fair to SKY when I was getting the speeds at the start with the consistency I did not have an issue.
Although when the issue arised and SKY turned there back on me then I did.
So I am not here to try and put SKY down I am just highlighting what my experience was like with SKY and voicing my opinions on what I think.

Sorry for the rant...

He never told you the whole story. More importantly it tells you what you are connected to and he never explained why you had 2 PC symbols while most of us have just 1, usually just Local Area Connection when connected by Ethernet.

However, if you are not interested in finding out why you have this extra phantom symbol, which could very well have something to do with your issue, that is your affair!

Please do not miss understand me I simply explain why I did not answer your question,I would love to know the meaning in layman's terms.

Although the second PC symbol I had use to say internet connection and showed 8mbps to 9 mbps although speed tests showed different give or take the conjugation time when test was conducted.

Also I did set all the setting to default factor settings,I also did a spy @ virus scan as I am led to believe this can slow your band with down due to malware sending out its code from your computer in the back ground.....
I also did a format of my computer and reinstalled windows XP 3 (New instalment)

I still had the issues with the slow speed.

I truly believe the fault was on the line from the exchange to maybe the Cabernet or my house.
Although the exchange would say other wise as they told me the connection was true and strong?.

Although I am no longer with them now and do not have this issue some may wounder why I am still ranting on?.

This is true although I would love to know what the problem was.....curiosity.

You'll probably never find out, now you've changed ISPs and platform.

I bet that 2nd PC symbol (Internet Connection) no longer appears and you just have the 1 symbol saying Local Area Connection. That's cuz you have changed router.

Your BT speedtest of 19 Meg seems low for FTTC. Many FTTC users have Sync speeds in the 30 Megs. Did the BT eng or BT Availability Checker tell you what your Connection Speed would be?

Could be a long shot but you might find that the 2nd PC icon is due to UPnP being enabled on your router, disable that function if you don't require it and check to see if that 2nd PC icon has gone.

Exactly! That's what I what I was getting at and pointed OP to a thread about it, but he ignored it frown

Too late now as it's probably gone with change of router.

With regards to my FTTC connection my speeds.BT tell me the Infinity is not available in my area although they have put me on the next best thing.Option 3 with FTTC.

Exchange to cab is fibre then from cab to my house is copper.

I would say this is a infinity set up I even have the open reach box plugged into my Home Hub 3 with the infinity Ethernet ports being used.

Strange I know.....

As to the question about the CP symbol showing now no it does not.
Although I bet if I clicked the show icons for UPnP devices it probably would.
But I do not think this would have been the cause of my speed loss?..

UP DATE : I have clicked the show UPnP devices I do not have a CP symble although when I go into network places I have an option to look at BT homehub 3.0 media gateway.
I am going to do a speed test and see if it effects my bandspeed
