Unfortunately, you didn't grasp what I said and you just repeated the same nonsense post again. It's not RFI we're talking about, it's a voice fault.

You may perhaps have grasped the fact that you are the only person claiming a voice fault, notwithstanding the OP has the target SRN and dismisses the fact that he has noise on the line. very little means very little, you can get that" very little" from the phone itself. Just because you claim a voice fault.... that does not make it fact!

You often try to help people but it is too often on the basis that YOU ARE RIGHT! and far too dismissive and rude to those that disagree.

Far from helping others you have now become a troll simply as....stop being so aggressive and rude as the forums are here to help people, and not to let some go on ego trips..

Just a tad sad..a wee bit old...wink

Although I bet if I clicked the show icons for UPnP devices it probably would.
Oh, where do you find this on XP?

But I do not think this would have been the cause of my speed loss?
It did me!

Given you've established there is noise on the quiet line test, how much noise indicates there's a fault?

To answer your first question for me it is in my Desktop under "My network places"
As to whether or not it effected my router I will never know as I over looked the question when asked but it as not effected it with BT as I have it on and my speed consistency is OK.
It may have been a router thing?
You say it effected you?what ISP are you with & your router is? sorry if I am being rude asking.
Although saying this when I had the Sagem router with SKY I did re set all factory setting and formatted a new instalment of Windows XP so this UPnP will not have been active and the issues were still there.....

To the Moderators : thank you for cleaning that spam up earlier, glad to see this site is nice and tidy smile

I don't have "show icons for UPnP" under "My network places".

Netgear DG834GT; ISP is irrelevant!

I do, in the left hand action/Network Tasks pane, on my XP Pro system. Netgear DG834GT router. I don't have it turned on though.

Ah OK! I'm using Classic Folders. I thought the Common Tasks were all available but in a different way. But not this one!

When I switch to Common Tasks I can then show uPnP devices. Then when my router has uPnP ON the Router appears under My Network Places and 2nd PC symbol "Internet Connection" (which is of type Internet Gateway) appears on taskbar and in Network Connections. And when my router has uPnP OFF all these things go away.

When I encountered "Internet Connection" way back I was running Classic Folders and my router had uPnP ON.

Thanks, that explains it and shows that OP had uPnP on with his old router but not now.

I also use classic folders. It just so happened that on this occasion I went to My Network Places via the link on the Start menu and that showed the Actions pane. Going to My Network Places via the folder pane in classic folders view doesn't show the UPnP option until you un-click the Folders button.

Kinda makes sense - I think grin
