I don't have "show icons for UPnP" under "My network places".

Netgear DG834GT; ISP is irrelevant!

I have had that router Netgear DG834GT when I was with the post Office as my ISP.
I found it easy to use and was OK.

Like I say I do not think my issue was whether or not the UPnP on or off was causing the problems for me although I am glad the issue of where it was and how to activate it as been cleared up.

Please can you give us the link to what samknows says about your exchange? There are two different Sky services, LLU and non-LLU. The LLU is good, the non-LLU very dodgy, and that link will tell us if they have LLU there.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - IDNet Home Starter Fibre. Live BQM.

Sky LLU has a good rep but you need to be aware that they now only offer full LLU that includes line rental and and calls.

As a package it is fine but it does give complications if you decide to move to a different provider at any time in the future.

Yes, Sky Connect, and it's dreadful. I don't know if you can get it on one of their LLU'ed exchanges though, except when the LLU capacity is fully taken up already.

I've only been reading this thread because I just made the jump from Orange (BT) to sky. I was hoping for slightly improved speed on full LLU as BT profiling kept giving me a 4.5Meg service because I couldn't quite hit the 5696KBps needed for 5Meg.
With sky my connection speed is (unsurprisingly) the same as with Orange, and no complaints about that as I'm miles from the exchange on old copper: namely around 5100KBps, but for most of the evening my download speed as measured on this site (or anywhere else) is between 1.5 and 3Mb, only rising to 4 or a little more at around midnight and later. This is significantly worse than the BT performance I was getting (3-4, rising to 4-4.5 after midnight). My exchange (Rhyl) is not listed as problematic, but there's clearly a lack of capacity even worse than BT's.

Part of my reason for moving was Anytime+, but now that it's available to all ISP's I'm about to kick myself.

You were presumably kept on the 20CN profiling and not the new 88.2% profiling you get on WBC.

Quite so, and the fence is higher on this side!
I suspect a difference in profiling may have 'kicked-in' during my last few days with BT, as I was at that point getting some best-ever speeds, just to rub salt in!
