03 is completely the same as 01/02 and was brought in mainly because 01/02 is for residential/business and the 03's for large corps wanting to change from the 084's and 087's e.t.c.

Do you have any LLU at your local exchange? See http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search

For instance Sky LLU may offer better value than BT.
No, no LLU no cable.

Yes I use the 'no to 0870' but premium rate numbers are on the increase with even local stores, banks etc using them (which really annoys me).

Are you sure? Many companies are adopting 03xx numbering, which is charged the same as 01 and 02 numbers, and is included within most call/minutes packages.

Matt
Not really bothered debating who uses what number and who doesn't. The bottom line is I cannot use my phone between the hours of 0800 - 1800hr without being charged, and VM costs are not cheap. The past few months have averaged out around £25+ a month plus my BT quarterly which brings that average total in at £37 a month, and because of the cost of making daytime calls I only use it when essential.

Once i've gone over to BT, yes I will be paying £38 a month but I can make as many phone calls as I like anytime without fear of racking up a daft bill because all calls are free. Tech Support is also totally free where VM isn't.

And finally.....each time i've spoken to BT i've been able to understand the person on the other end as they speak english with a clear precise voice. I've not experienced that with VM.

I just remember NTL cabling the other end of my town, having major financial problems and not completing the job.

They've stopped sending those "To the Occupier" ones to us, since the BT FTTC cabinet was enabled smile.

Now they come addressed correctly to me frown. As you say, every couple of weeks - one today in fact.

Regarding 03 numbers Matt, I note the Xilo website still states Local Rate for it's 0345 support number, you are aware they are actually "Geographic" Rates - as Local no longer exists?

I believe I had an e-mail from you regarding this, but it's still not been updated.

Back on topic, fewer companies use them , as 1 they are not aware of the costs to call them, and 2 prefer to make extra money on you calling them on the "premium" 084 numbers.
