Thank you for clearing up the confusion on last post.....

I understand your points of view although I was just going off what I payed when BT came to install my connection.
I payed no where near that amount for the service.
Although as you state and rightly so we only have half the tail.

When did you have your installation?

We've had two lines off and on for a few years. The previous reconnection was £30 about 10 years ago. About 3 years ago we wanted it reconnected again and were told it would be £130. When I queried the cost the person said it was "swings and roundabouts", brand new lines, boxes, etc cost £130 and they lost money, simple reconnections cost £130 and they made money. It all evened out (for them).
I therefore got Virgin Media to install a line and got very cheap broadband.

Since then a "return to donor" for £30 and an 18 month contract appeared.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

130 pounds is BT's standard call-out fee - and that's BEFORE they do any work on-site..

That truly is exploitation on BT behalf.
I had a line fitted with SKY and it was a BT engineer who came out.I payed £96.
I then left SKY and went with BT.
I am glad I did it this way and not opt to go with BT at the start or I may have been on here moaning at how much BT shaft there new customers to join.
