Re: Cease Fee by Vivaciti

What ever the cause for MAC craziness, this is now here-say. The issue the OP has is with a cease charge, which is now the current (immediate) problem.

But to address your response, it should be impossible for Vivaciti to generate an invalid MAC. If there is any block on the line, the system should do a "computer says no" response on them and refuse to give them one (I smell a rat, or someone telling porkies - but we may never find out the real truth regarding this).

In either case, the MAC they gave the OP, whether it be valid or not, was never used within the 30 days, so this issue is a moot point (IMO).

I guess you mean a moot point, but I think it's the whole reason this disaster happened. As I said, I suspect it's just a delaying tactic used by Vivaciti.

Do you have access to the OP'm medical records? Do you know how his medical conditions affect his ability to cope with everyday life?

No - but clearly you do as you have ruled in his favour already.

I'm not suggesting for one second that the OP falls into this category but do you suggest that the company writes off every debt for someone who comes to them with a sob-story?

Really where have I said that I supported the OP? I told him to go to the one organisation that can help, him the CAB. Once again you jump to conclusion from no information what so ever.

You were the one who jumped on him and dissmissed his sickniss/disability as irrelivant to the issue and it may be at the heart of the problem, I don't know and you certainly don't know.

It's up to the OP and any help he gets from professionals to get it resolved.

But its your attitude that is the mainstay of "normal" people and the media that all sick and disabled people are putting it on.

Go to hell JohnR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not after any sympathy vote whatsover, its just a case of health issues affecting way i can deal and cope with this.

Can I have some contact details of someone at Orange I can contact please?

Perhaps tomorrow Vivaciti will put here their side across here and their season why I need to pay them and their view on why Orange are at fault.

He has just offered an opinion, as have the rest of us.

There are certainly a variety of different opinions, perhaps not as clear cut as you first thought?

I'd be tempted to work privately with Vivaciti to come up with a common approach if possible. I certainly don't think it's in your or Vivaciti's interests to make this into a matter of principle. A lot of bother for £30.

edited to add: I realise you are strapped for cash and apologise if a lot of bother for £30 sounds patronising.

It's really quite simple as explained in the OP
1. on benefit of £67.50 a week and needed to economise.

2. received MAC on 21/12/2011: Confirmed here to be invalid by Vivaciti.

3. requested another MAC. Duplicate invalid MAC given.

4. Vivaciti were adamant that it was valid and basically insisted that Orange did not have a clue about broadband and support staff were just script readers.

5. Asked again for a valid MAC . never received one.

Statements like that will not help you, if you ask for advice it will not all be in your favour, some will have a different opinion. frown

If this is how you acted on the phone/tickets to them no wonder their not trying there best to help you

There is some truth in this observation, but I don't see what else Orange could have done when presented with an invalid/expired MAC, alleged by Vivacity to be valid, but to do a "Cease & Re-provide" on the BB.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU => 2011: Orange 19 Meg WBC
