That's because the call from the mobile is 'in charge' of the call.

I think my socket is an extension socket, but that is the only socket in my flat...maybe the main socket is in my neighbours flat?

I have just called TT and they refused to send a SFI engineer. They said a QubeGB staff needs to come in first and then if a SFi engineer is needed then they will send them....

This is so frustrating!

OK, since you don't have access to a test socket then I guess you will just have to let the Qube folks do their thing...did you ask TT for a replacement router also or is that also dependent upon the Qubes' findings?

The single socket might be the master on the incoming line, but if you think it might be connected off somewhere else then there's scope for problems.

Everything is depending on qube people coming in on Tuesday...the only other options is to cancel their visit and start the whole process again....stuck between a rock and a hard place!

I will report back on Tuesday....in the meantime thanks a lot for everyone's help and advice! Learnt a lot of things!!

So the Qube engineer has come in...and unsurprisingly he cannot fix it!

So I called TT again, and now they are letting a 'manager' check the line and will get back to me in 8 hours! When I asked why didn't the manager check before sending in the Qube engineer...there was no good reason given.

Even the Qube guy was saying how appalling the connection is. He said that TT states 2meg is the minimum to be a working connection. When he called TT to confirm his finding, TT actually said the minimum on my connection is 0.65meg, even the engineer was telling TT that is unacceptable for a broadband connection...and at times my connection drops below 0.65meg anyway.

I am sick of endlessly waiting for TT to call me back etc...they won't send a SFI engineer in and the Qube engineer suggested i should request the contract to be cut immediately with no charges on my side - but I am sceptical that TT would actually let me do this....any suggestions?

Did the Qube guy trace your home wiring to a master NTE5 or to a junction box?

Did he just do line tests from your little phone socket?

Did he bring his own equipment, e.g. laptop, router, etc., to do the tests?

When he was talking about speeds was he referring to sync speeds or to download throughput speeds and did he comment on your high error rates and high upstream loop loss (47dB attenuation) relative to your downstream loop loss (58dB attenuation) - a 58dB downstream attenuation should give a ~3 meg sync speed on ADSL2 with a 6dB SNRM.
