Re: Vivaciti: Trouble Getting MAC

Indeed, Vivaciti do seem to have problems with MACs. It's not an encouraging sign, and suggests either their internal systems are a shambles, or the delay is deliberate and a way to keep hold of departing subscribers just a bit longer.

(Just to update everyone, we did finally get the MAC. Yay!)

Hard to conclude otherwise. Within a couple of hours of posting my first reply here my broadband connection was cut for 36 hours (perfect sync to exchange, nothing thereafter)! Apparently this was a "line fault" which Vivaciti Tech support would respond to within 4 hours (needless to say they didn't). I too finally have my MAC after 11 days. However the exchanges in trying to achieve this became acrimonious and now they are insisting I have to be off their network by month's end. So I'm expected to comply with their requirements with less than a full month's notice despite ALL the delays being instigated by them! Fantastic service (not).

My advice to prospective customers: Avoid the hassle and find a reputable provider.

My advice is to check any prospective supplier is a member of an Ofcom approved ADR. This is a requirement of any provider, even simple, systemless resellers.

If a provider is riding shotgun over Ofcom requirements and you come up with problems like they won't issue a MAC, or they cut you off because they don't like what you are posting on forums. You haven't got anywhere to go. These guys are already outside the rules.

You can check providers that comply with Ofcom ADR requirements here.

If you are using a small provider or systemless reseller, I would advise checking membership regularly as some providers leave the ISPA and ADR schemes and this may be a warning sign as the slice of cake the small guys occupy is shrinking daily.

Thanks for the above, that is excellent advice. I am amazed that suppliers who aren't able/prepared to comply with Oftel regs are able to continue trading.

Chalk me up in the same boat as others in the thread, Vivaciti won't give me a MAC and they won't even answer the phones now. Getting suspicious....

Rob,
Your ticket was replied to from what I can see, and you have been told the issue with your line is that you are on an MPF service, full LLU and one of the support agents has said there is no MAC process for full LLU, I can also see a number of responses showing how the process works for full LLU migrations from MPF to another service, I am sure there will be a number of people on here that will let you know how the full LLU process works who are independent to us.

This is indeed correct, I've received all the details. To be absolutely fair to Vivaciti, they came through about an hour after that post was made. I've spoken to some other providers and I'm getting a handle on where I'm headed next.
