You should be syncing at about 24 Meg. The reason you are not is that your ISP has put you on a banded profile, the lowest of these Banded Profiles. You need to call them to remove any banding.

Hello again Vivaciti,

I will have to work out the mass of cables. There is a phone and the PDQ plugged into the line.

Could a PDQ affect the overall speed?

Kind Regards

CJT.

Thanks XRaySpeX

I am not sure having just rang the ISP that they will have any idea what I am talking about...

They seem to be a bit of very expensive loss!

They 99.999% certainly reselling an ISP's service. If you are happy to PM me your IP address as reported by this tool I can probably tell you who.

Sometimes the underlying ISP is contactable when you have problems with a reseller.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.

Personally, I don't have any confidence that the bloke in the shop in Oldham will be able to offer business support. I think you need to find a way out of the contract ideally. The best you can hope for is that a modem in the test socket will yield line stats that look ok indicating the fault is local extension wiring.

BatBoy

I moved the router earlier today and the 2nd set of stats I posted was from the test socket..

We would love to get out of contract with them penalty free, but so far no luck

Sorry missed that. I can't imagine what has caused that much banding then. It should be a relatively simple matter to get TalkTalk or whoever to reset it though.
