Do you know if re-sellers have to purchase (or sub-lease) backhaul bandwidth or aggregate usage, from Plusnet, to service their customers?

I can't think of any other incentive to manually throttle a connection.
Perhaps they're just incompetent.

No idea - little to no information leaks on what PlusNet reseller pricing is

Throttling to the extent you have is unlikely to be deliberate action, since it barely constitutes broadband

Good Morning RobertoS,

It is 24 Months, with approx 6 months left. The "get out" fee is eye-watering!

Thanks again MrS,

I have found some CW1308 here

Would this be suitable?

We've used that company to source BT Openreach branded master sockets (NTE5) for several years.
We have found them to be reliable suppliers.

However, you might be better off using a voice/data extension wiring kit of some kind.
It all depends on where you would ideally like to place your equipment.

Given the choice, would the router, PDQ and phone all be in the same location or not?

Hi there Lizzie,

Given the choice yes, but if it's better to have the Router at the Master Socket and the Phone/PDQ via the Extension then that can be done.

We really just want to eek the best speed we can for the price we are lumped with

If you have a PDQ then probably worth double filtering it, as these have sometimes caused problems for some, like Sky boxes have for home users sometimes.

It may be errors caused by the filtering is why you are banded down to such a low level.

Has the DLM reset gone through yet? It is performed remotely by Plusnet, and is done immediately. You do not need to reboot the router, a resync is triggered automatically. (I have requested resets many times over the years on BTw 21CN, so seen it done first hand before my very eyes).

The choice of ISP/reseller/being BTw based has not caused this problem, so this is not a reason to switch provider.

Your extension wiring looks fundamentally OK from the stats, but in the short-term stick to the master socket, try a different modem/router if possible and if sync speeds collapse again you have a line problem, which is a distinct possibility.

Just checking I've got this right.

You're saying that your ideal setup would be to have a single internal extension run, with all three bits of kit at the extension location?

Whilst it works just fine for most, a few experience major issues putting a PDQ on an xDSL enabled line.
Have you ever looked to see if your router loses sync when the PDQ dials out?
Does your PDQ have an Ethernet port?

Hi vimto_girl

I was advised by the ISP that the reset had been performed.

I did reboot the router and so far from my last speed check there is no obvious improvement in speed. It is still at under 1Mbps.

My reason for wanting to move ISP is there total lack of knowledge or apparent willingness to help. They appear to resell a Plusnet product.
