Roath, Cardiff

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Can anyone in the Roath area (Cardiff) comment on the speed of Virgin Cable? I'm moving there shortly and I know the area is too far from the exchange to get 8mbit ADSL.

I've been thinking about getting 20mbit Virgin but after reading all the horror stories here, I thought it might be best just to ask first.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks :-)

The more I read the stories on here, the less I want to sign a 12 month contract with the devil.

Thinking about going with a normal BT line and www.fast4.net as the ISP. I'll just have to get used to 3mbps again

Yeah, true. That's a good idea. Will they refund the installation charge?

If it works well its really great, you could have peak hour problems resulting in Awful DL speeds. BUt off peak you should be Fine if u want to do heavy DLing.

Ask a neighbor? or see if they will do that 1 month trial thing.

According to their site, they regard peak times as 4pm-midnight. Are those the times you're speaking about?

To be honest, even if I got 5mbps out of it... that's still 2mbps more than what BT can offer me on a good day.

I reckon it's at least worth a try. I wonder if the guy that installs it will run a cable all the way into my attic
