Virgin Media FTP Upload Problem

I have been trying to upload a file to my personnel website for the past couple of days without success.
I have tried using different FTP programs without success, so I rang up Tech support
and got thru to some guy in India who had no Idea what I was talking about.
I explained that I was a system admin back in 1990 have built websites and uploaded files to them for years and I explained that the Virgin Media server was not accepting any type of file I tried to upload, no matter what method I choose to use.
The second line Support rang me up and asked have I tried uploading in SAFEMODE...where do they get these idiots from.

I use my personnel Virgin Media website because of the bandwidth use, as it is unlimited.
With the amount of leechers about nowadays offering a small file for download will eat up your bandwidth.
I used to host "The Lists" for downloading warez from the old Fixdown servers in China and I used to have thousands of hits and if I ran that on another server the months bandwidth would have gone within a day.

i've always used Ipswitch WS FTP Pro 2007 works fine
i'm running 64bit vista ultimate
