Initial setup for new user

I am trying to guide my daughter through the setup routine, I have never dealt with cable stuff before and she is 200 miles away, so....

She has had a Virgin media phone line installed todaywith a Scientific Atlanta modem.
She will be sharing the connection so she has a Netgear WGR614V7 cable Router.
The engineer said she would not need the installation cd fro the modem.

I need to know what sequence to plug things in, the router setup refers to connecting the computer to the modem rather than the router.

I am assuming:
1 connect modem to router with ethernet cable
2 connect router to computer with ethernet cable
3. run router setup for network then security, then internet

It's an XP Computer with ethernet , also has a usb wireless adapter for later

What is the proper procedure for doing the setup

ok i havnt done this but getting it installed next week so have read a little should go summin like this

connect the pc to the able modem first and register the modem with your details which the virgin installer should have show her how to do, once the interenet is setup with just the modem turn the modem off then plug the modem into the router then from router to pc and switch the router on first then the modem then the pc and it should all work
