Any sign of this free 4mb to 10mb upgrade?

When I renewed with Virgin 6 weeks ago, the woman in retentions told me that they will be upgrading everyone on 4mb to 10mb by the end of the year.

A few people on another forum I read (moneysavingexpert) have also been told the same.

But I have yet to see this in writing from Virgin.

Has anyone else been told this too?

lots of people have been told this too ... but since the network is strugglin to cope at the moment .. i hope they've wisely postponed it.

Such an upgrade would possibly not impact the level of performance currently provided. This is because relatively few higher bandwidth customers are getting download speeds above 4 Mbps during the peak periods, irrespective of the volume of their use in the 16:00 - 24:00 hr. window.

Such an upgrade would however result in more complaints about speed during the busy period and sporadically at other times of day, unless of course Virgin Media fixes the causes over which it has control.

Any news on this?

While a free upgrade would be nice, I would much prefer to have my 4mbit run as 4mbit at all times, rather than the 2mbit I get in the evenings. As that is not likely to happen, a 10mbit connection will at least mean I can stream for a little longer in the evenings without any issues.

I'm on a solid 4 Mbit connection (just under) so if this upgrade happens I'll be happy, but look what happend with the 20 Mbit upgrade! Right now I'm sceptical that Virgin can deliver a consistent 10 Mbit service.
