1) At the beginning (when it was still NTL) I was maxing my connection out whenever I connected, on or off peak solid 2300+kbps and I was very happy.
2) Hit the AUP a few times (not hard at that speed) and lived with the consequences (only fair). However, recently it seems I have been constantly throttled. never better than 10mbit off peak and 5mbit on peak
3) Never seen it that bad, however, I pay for 20mbit so the current situation was not acceptable, so I quit
I thought, if I am only going to get 10mbit then I might as well pay for it. So I have ordered BE unlimited.
1) They say conservative estimate is that I will get 10-11mbit (could be as much as 15) which is just as good as I have now
2) It is only 18 per month so I save 19!
3) They provide and adsl wireless router, so I can sell my draytek 2900V
4) Static IP is included
5) NO CAPPING!
6) very fast setup. Put the order on at 1:30am this morning, had my activation date by 10am
Getting out of the Virgin contract is not easy (I am NOT paying those funsters 25p per minute just to cancel the account) but found a neat way round it - the terms say that you can cancel you account with 30days notice by letter or email. So I sent an email to the general enquiries address detailing my request (give as much info as possible, username, account number etc). Then when you get the autoreply - you know, your enquiry is important to us, this counts as proof of delivery. Therefore whether they like it or not they MUST cancel your account within 30 days of the autoreply. Bingo, account cancellation and no extortionate phone call fees.
Did I call them funsters yet? Well, I just did it again.
Ban - soon to be ex virgin crappy media customer.
