VM problems, or general internet?

[link to this post]

I've been having problems getting my email from 1&1 today, and so was thinking the problem lay at their end .... until I tried to get to a couple of other sites I use, and they're not loading either.

Can anyone on (or not on) VM access The Warzone 2100 Resurrection Project or The Suffering websites?

Ta

Curious. A mate who lives a few streets away is on VM and he can't get to them either. Guess it's a localised problem.

Cheers for the replies

Guess this answers it (from the VM support newsgroup):

In reply to:

This website is one of the ones affected by the routing issue outlined in my
earlier announcement. The ticket number for the issue is 604362.

i'm on vm (rochdale) and have the same problem

curiously, if you point thunderbird at gmail it will (very slowly) download your mail

pop3 must be more tolerant than http

only problem is it's trying to download all my mail since july 05!

Had problems with Google services, traceroutes made it look like a problem with Virgin, rebooted my router, came back up and all now seems ok.

Check the sig

Used to do tech support for freedom2surf, and before that, Entanet.

Now I am a poor computer systems student, on Virgin Media Cable thanks to their excellent student offers

I did forget about my ISP rep tag though, since I haven't posted here in an age. It should be removed now

Read the news on the register, ta

Seems it was VM's routing problem affecting German sites, including 1 & 1

The broadband was something like 10-11 a month for 2Mbps, rather than 17, I believe. Cheap enough for me to appreciate it anyway.

It had to go through a particular guy though, so it may have been that my university had struck a deal with Virgin regarding provision.

http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/summary.do

reported issues with connection to 1&1 the other day.

I had to ssh to a friends server and run mozilla from there. :-(
