Compensation?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

We've got a 50Mbps XXL connection, and recently the speed has become miserably slow. After speaking to tech support, they said the SNR is far too high and there is nothing I can do. The issue has been known about since 23/12, but they plan to fix/upgrade that bit of the network by the end of March/mid-April.

I can't even stream iplayer/4od properly (non HD even), but I do get some connection as I'm writing this post.

Is there really nothing I can do? Also, what should I ask them to take off my bill, as this isn't 50Mbps by any stretch of the imagination!

Thanks,
Raj

Hi,

Ok VM will compensate you, but only for the cost of missed connection starting 24 hours after you call to complain. If you still have a connection don't lay too much hope on getting somethnig; if the connection has gone then it is calculated thus.

weekly broadband tarrif
______________________ X number of days without broadband = compensation
number of days in that month

or somethnig very similar. the first 24 hours you get nothing as shown in their T&Cs and they won't fall for "my internet stopped working 6 weeks ago so i need 6 weeks compensation".

However, my suggestion. Call them and before you spend time with someone telling you to reboot your modem and stick you left arm out of the door .. instead say sternly tat you want to speak to a team leader. be forceful, complain about calling several times and getting through to someone who cant follow you. don't make out that any promises were made as everythnig is logged but if you stick to what you want you may get a nominal tenner just to keep you quiet. not a guarantee, just a possibility

As I thought... will drop them a line again tm.

They can keep the tenner.... I'd pay then another tenner to fix the thing (into the 2nd hour of a 40min show)!! =)
