Are you 100% certain this is from VM? This could just as easily be an unsolicited email designed to extract information from your account. I should look again and check that you haven't been asked for your account password.

I would suggest you to give VM a call and see if an email regarding this has been sent to you. They will have a record and if it is a scam, then it is somethnig they will certainly know about and will be able to advise. Caveat Emptor

Yes it's the samknows performance trial. You have a piece of kit you plug in. I can send pics if you like I have one sat by me. It's the exact same e-mail I got ages ago

do you think there are any ulteria motives or is it a genuine attempt to monitor their networks at the user end?

I think they doing trials in leicester.

my sister now has 1meg upload and 10meg download, before she only had 384kbit upload. However her download speeds are now much worse since the change she appears to have heavy congestion whilst before she had no speed drops during the evening.
